The Good Food Co. had a humble start in 1995 as a small catering business and selling sweet and savoury baked goods at the Carleton Place and Perth farmers' markets. The cafe was opened in 1997 in the old Mac William's Pharmacy building in Carleton Place and has always emphasized seasonal menus incorporating local produce combined with international influences. Our soups, salad dressings, and desserts are all made from-scratch in our small open-concept kitchen from fresh ingredients, including eggs from cage-free hens, preservative-free milk and butter, and honey and maple syrup from Lanark County. Since our first year in business, we have had local harvesters and farmers selling or trading us seasonal produce, starting with wild leeks, fiddleheads, and rhubarb in the Spring. We have been buying our Good Food Co. coffee blend from Equator Coffee Roasters in Almonte since 1998 and Baker Bob's in Almonte has been supplying us with bread from the beginning.

We estimate that 75% of our garbage is routed to our recycling bins or to food scrap bins, which our landlord uses for garden compost at his farm.

The cafe is open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8am to 4pm, Friday from 8am to 10pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 4pm. We are closed on Mondays. We are fully licenced.
