J.J. Stewart
Cheff JJ Stewart likes the connection to the Perth area community that buying local gives Fiddleheads. However, his main reason for using local produce and protein is of course the taste and freshness. Customers agree - online reviews say things like "truly delicious" and "best lunch ever!".
Fiddleheads menu offers a variety of meat, poultry, fish and vegetarian entrees, plus pizza, pasta, wraps and burgers. There are 2 lunch specials and 2 dinner specials that change daily and feature in-season produce from several area farms. The kitchen staff welcome freshly-harvested vegetables and herbs - including spring fiddleheads - as a way to express their creativity.
Lanark County maple syrup adds a sweet note where you'd expect it on French toast (Sunday brunch with jazz), or cheesecake, but also on sweet potato fries and in delicate glazes for meat dishes. Beef, lamb, emu, chicken and turkey are all obtained from Eastern Ontario farms, and soybean tempeh from Lanark Highlands.
Diners enjoy the ambience of the mill's old stone walls adorned with artwork by talented locals, or the indoor courtyard with fountain, or the summer patio overlooking Stewart Park and the Tay River. Come and treat yourself to old-fashioned hospitality and locally inspired flavour!
