Community shared agriculture is a partnership between growers and eaters. At the beginning of the growing season, CSA “members” enter an agreement/subscription with the farmer to supply a share of a season's worth of vegetables.
Typically, some or all of the cost of the subscription is paid up front, which helps the farmer with financing for the year. It also provides a secure market, allowing the farmer to do what they do best – grow nutritious, great-tasting food. There are many variations and types of CSAs, so be sure to check out a few to see which one suits you best.
